It has been a pleasure for us to visit the Trailpark Klínovec another time in order to check out the new rubin trail. The foretaste we already got at our last visit came out as an absolute delight for mountain bikers. It will let your heart beat even faster.
Same procedure as last year – for our warm-up we started off at the 10 km long Azur trail. Along the way we passed many smiling bikers and scooters of all ages. Obviously, they had as much fun as we had. It seems also for grandparents and their grandchildren a worthy trip. It proved true that the trailpark is absolutely suitable for families.
When we arrived relaxed on the top again, we finally wanted to check out the Rubin trail. Prior to our visit we assumed that this trail would be even faster as well as more fun and it definitely came true. The upper part starts quite relaxing and pumptrack-like along the flat terrain. Slowly speed increases and along with that also height of bumps and berms. There it is possible either to cruise relaxed or to accelerate by an active way of driving.
The jumps get more and more airtime and lead into perfect berms. The lower third of the trail is even more fun and spectacular due to very high speed and additionally curves over crests and far jumps. If you are not fully focused at this section, you probably end up the wild rodeo among some nice blueberry shrubs. However, this part is crazily fun also slowly paced.
If you believe, what the trailpark designer says, in autumn there will be an even better trail, the Baron Trial (black). But we can hardly imagine, how the Rubin Trail should get topped. We are curious about that.
Trailcenter Rabenberg
If you don´t want to take the lift and fire all over the built trails all the time, you can perfectly combine your visit at the Trailpark Klínovec with the Trailcenter Rabenberg. The two locations are only half an hour by car away from each other. Although it is still in the Erzgebirge, there are significant differences between the two areas. In Rabenberg there is no lift, but the various natural routes are flowy built, so that there is always a trail going down after an up-hill part.
You see there is always something new to explore. Keep calm and bike on.
Our Suggestions
Accomodation: The czech hotels are way cheeper than the german ones. So we recommend you to stay either in Jachymov or in Bozi Dar. Rooms start at 10 €/night incl. breakfast. Right at the beginning of some trails, there is a nice camping site in Rabenberg if you prefer to sleep in your van or in a tent.
Food: The Czech hearty dishes are very tasty and recommendable and in addition you should try the delicious Czech beer. The costs for 2 people for a meal (including beer tasting ) are about 15 – 20 €.
